You know what I learned this weekend?
Fish and frogs make good pets but not necessarily in the same tank.
You heard it here first people (well most of you)- we have added to our family. I am now the proud owner of a Betta fish named Flash and an African Dwarf frog named Ralph S. Frog. I was told by the 2o year old kid at Petsmart that they could live together in harmony but I am finding now that my Betta not only hates other Bettas but he may hate my frog too.
Flash chases Ralphie around the tank and flares out at him. I have not noticed him nip at the frog but the the frog doesn't look happy. Damn that fish, damn that 20 year old kid at Petsmart.
One thing I will never do again- go to PetSmart on Saturday. Every rescue dog from here to Orlando was looking at me with those sad little eyes. I finally had to walk away from a dog named Barron and head to the equine section to cry. It was horrible.
One other note..
THE KONG - is the best dogtoy on the market. Keeps Lucky busy for atleast a good 30-45 minutes.

Remember the KEDS?
If you grew up in the 80's, there is no doubt that you remember Ked's. I had several pair. The classic lace up as well as the ultra cool slides. I even vaquely remember wearing a pair of high top keds with hot pink laces... classy huh?
It seems like it has taken quite a while for Ked's to reinvent themselves into something cool again. I am in love with their new collections and so impressed with their new ad campaign featuring no other then super cute Mischa Barton

A blog devoted to nothing but purses...
I hope that heaven will have an accessory store where all the best handbags are free. Also in heaven I hope that everything you try on magically fits and you go back to the size you were always meant to be. Until then, a website just for purse fanatics.

This fiery quote is one of my favorites.
"The hottest places in hell are reserved for those in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality."

Darkness prevails.
When I walked down the hall this morning it seemed like the building was still asleep. There are two lights out in my hallway and the darkness is somehow cozy. Everyone seems to be on a summer hiatus. I stepped around the corner to tell a co worker I had a meeting at 11:00 but her office was empty. I don't think there is a soul down the corridor that cares where I am at 11:00. Is this paradise? Am I dreaming? I think I am being tricked.
Today, I have discovered that despite my numerous attempts there is no artist or song out there that can drown the sound of a computer recycled from the 90's. In this discovery, I also learned that I really like Jack Johnson and Michael Buble.

Obsessed with bags.
Init™ Slim Notebook Case
A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I went out and finally purchased a new laptop for me. Having my own computer now is quite nice. We put it off as long as we could but with a thesis due in spring, you can only avoid the inevitable for so long. Being all girl, I immediately began my search for a fashionable laptop bag. I don't expect to travel with it all that much so spending $100 was out of the question. I searched high and low- ebags, ebay, overstock, amazon and more. I refused to even consider checking out the ordinary black bulky bags at the familiar electionics super stores. Soon enough I was tired of looking and the constant sticker shock got a little old, so I stopped into Best Buy on a whim. I was pleasantly surprised by my find, yes it is red and reminds me of a ski jacket but it has an incredibly padded, quilited lining and is very light.
Best of all, I paid a whopping 9.99.

Janet's Clean Day.
Saturday is my mom's cleaning day. I used to think it was my cleaning day too. I was fooling myself. I never get the house clean by Saturday night and then feel guilty.....When I do clean, my absolute favorite product is Mrs. Myers Clean Day All Purpose Cleaner. It is perfect for the kitchen counters and the tile, the lemon verbena scent is heavenly.

So it's officially 18 minutes away...
It is now 4:42. At 5:00, the work day will be over. Since my earlier blog, many things have transpired. I found a donkey pez dispenser and a tacky paire of bronze shoes at a shoe store during my lunch break. I bought them both. It seems a bit ironic that on my very last day here, my coworkers and I decide to go shoe shopping during lunch... why this had not come up before I am uncertain.
For lunch I feasted on some kick butt mac and cheese, greenbeans, chicken, and sweet potatoes from Juniors.. It was so tasty and even better my friend Shelia footed the bill.
My last day.
I have found that there is nothing like the feeling of cleaning out your desk and packing up your belongings before you head off in another direction. Today is my last day in the office I currently call my workplace. I have made new files for my replacement and tried to clean up the dustbunnies. I have even left most of the paperclips and writing utensils for the next person. I will be honest, the actual work that I do from day to day has been like a thorn in my side for the last six months. When you find yourself close to the bottom of the food chain, you are most likely left with the remnants of what others have done, what others choose not to do, and what you might actually enjoy doing in the leftover 2% of your job description. That's my story. However, giving up the abominal, will also mean giving up the nonpareil. This office boasts the best co-workers I have absolutely ever had.
Where else will I go for short trivia games, exciting prizes, the comforting aroma of microwave popcorn, a window that lets the cool rain in, two screens, slaps on the behind, slaps in the face, getting "bum" rushed, handicap parking spot steals, a water cooler with sub par water, songs of Grandfather time, southern baptist musings, catholic rebuttals, smart label printing, printing black and white and red on a fabulous printer, PEANUTS, good coffee, good coffee maker, good coffee making people, diet pepsi in a can from nice people, free lunchtotes and stickers, moving out from under dark clouds, free lunches, two nice guys and a bunch of fussy women, and what I will miss the most... laughing so hard that I cry.
I am sinking says the American, what are you svinking says the German.

How this got started.....
The Lucky Girl Seeks Lovely Stuff website was started on the basis of displaying a personal list of my favorite lovely things and a wishlist for more good stuff. Having envied the bloggers that display beautiful graphics of their interesting finds for some time now, I thought it might be worth a shot to keep a running tab of the people, places, and things that I like....
While I consider myself a very, very lucky girl.. the title reference "lucky girl" comes from my dog Lucky. Lucky was a shelter dog that was waiting for her forever home for 6 months before she found us. Being at the top of my list, she is the first one who will grace the "list of lovely" .
